SAFE-T Act took effect in Illinois on September 18, 2023
The most significant change in this section of the Act is the elimination of cash bail and its replacement with a new process for pretrial release, which was set to take effect on January 1, 2023. After legal challenges, the provision was upheld and took effect on September 18, 2023.
To assist Illinois jails, we have added an additional questionnaire that prompts the booking officer to ask the inmate “Are you out on Pre-Trial Release in the State of Illinois?”
The new feature in in the BOOKING tab of the Inmate Booking process.
Clicking the “Additional Questionnaire” button brings up the actual questionnaire screen. Click Yes, No, Refused, Unknown for the questions.
If you need to comment on the question, click the question and a notes window will appear
Printing is an option as well.
If you need to maintain the question list, you can do so by going to top menu and clicking Maintenance > Preferences > Jail Profile
Click on question to edit. You can make changes in the boxes below and click the “ENTER” button at the top of the window.
To add a new question. Enter a question number, the question text and other details as necessary. The scoring is for future use.
